It all started with a man who had a dream. Lars Larsen was born in northwestern Denmark and worked as an apprentice in a textile factory. Later, he started his own business, which was a chain of bed linen stores. Interestingly, he had practically no money, but was full of bright ideas. Soon, the ambitious young entrepreneur was able to find a number of suppliers and a bank willing to help him. Lars Larsen opened the first JYSK store in Aarhus, Jutland on April 2, 1979.
